Pelvis
Pelvis means basin.
The bones that the pelvis consists of are:
- Ilium
- Ischium
- Pubis
During a yoga class, teachers can refer to the pelvis as a basin to help explain how they want you to move, or align the pelvis. For example in a forward bend, you tilt the pelvis in such a way, that if you imagine your pelvis to be a basin, water would fall out on the front.
