Yoga for Beginners (part 3) – Twists and Stretches
Hi everyone,
Part 3 of yoga for beginners! The final part of the Yoga for Beginners series focusses more on poses that require a bit more strength, in your arms and core! We are getting into a baby backbend (cobra) and a twist. Hope you’ll enjoy it!
As you know I haven’t been feeling great the past week so I haven’t got a new video for this week so here is an older one which fell through the cracks and wasn’t put up previously here. This completes the Yoga for Beginners series.
In this video the poses I explain are:
- chair pose / utkatasana
- downward facing dog pose / adho mukha svanasana
- plank pose
- variation to chaturanga dandasana
- cobra pose / bhujangasana
- lunge / lunge twist
- child pose / balasana
Enjoy
Esther
Yoga for Beginners – Full Series
Part 1 - Basic Standing Poses
For all of you who want to do yoga, but don’t know how! There’s no time like the present to start practicing , Just start…, begin with this part one. Slowly get used to some of the basic standing poses that I will go through in this part and the next few.

Part 2 – Standing Side Stretches
Here part 2 of the beginners series. Still focussing on standing poses! When you begin with yoga I think they are the core poses you need to learn first.

Part 3 – More Advanced Poses
The final part of the Yoga for Beginners series moves from the basic standing poses to some of the more exerting twists and stretches.

I’m loving these 3 videos. I have been wanting to get back into yoga, and these have been the perfect prescription! Still having trouble keeping my back flat, like in down dog, it tends to round out. any help on how to do this?
Comment by Amy Feb 09, 10, 3:10 amHi there,
I’ve just been through 4 of the clips and I feel so revived and energized. Not been doing much exercise recently as I’ve been signed off work due to anxiety and low mood and it’s hard to get motivated to exercise. I’ve only ever tried Yoga a few times before and it’s quite tricky trying to do the moves whilst still having to keep looking up at the screen and maneuvering round the furniture but I managed.
Thank you for the lessons x

Comment by Vicky Mar 03, 10, 2:09 pmthank you so much for your videos!!it’s my first time doing yoga but i like it!!does the begginers series has 3 parts?if i repeat them daily would it help?
I you repeat the 3 parts daily, you will definitely benefit a lot, you will feel great, and become stronger. Than you can add on some of the other video’s, maybe a vinyasa..
Comment by Esther Mar 03, 10, 2:22 pmHave fun with it,

Thanks Esther for putting up such great videos. These are perhaps the best online yoga videos I have come across, these are something that one can actually follow!
I have a question, I have been doing the full series of your ‘yoga for beginner’ daily for the past 2 weeks and already feeling much fitter! But I am wondering what’s next. What all should I add to my routine? Or should I change to an entirely different set? which one should those be?
I have seen that you have many more yoga videos other than the beginner’s ones. But I can’t find what to choose next.
Thanks again!

Hi Roy, I will adress this question soon with a post or video about it! But in the mean time try out one of the vinyasa flows on the website.

Comment by Rambles with Reese Apr 07, 10, 11:44 amHellos Esther, I have finished your 3 pt beginner’s series, I was wanting to inquire how many times a week I should do these, and I’ve been doing the all three parts, 6 days a week 2 times in a row, am I overdoing it? underdoing it?
Thank you for any help you are able to give.

Hi,
Comment by Esther Apr 16, 10, 11:40 amYou are really going for it, that is great! There is no rule to overdoing or under doing, everybody is different, your body will let you know :). Sounds you can start trying some other video’s out…
Look for sun salutations. When ready try this out: http://www.yogatic.com/yoga-video/full-spectrum-yoga-sequence-standing-sitting-lying/
A yoga class usually lasts from 60 to 90 min. Within that time you warm up and do a relaxation.
Good luck!
Esther
Thank you so much Esther, I appreciate your teaching, and assistance. I’m so happy you replied ^^. Peace, and love be with you.

Hi,
thanks for the variation infos. I feel like too much blood is pooling into my head in child pose, but I was somewhat sceptical to use any blocks (since an alternation could stress the neck, so I needed professional advice:D ).
Thanks again
