Yoga for the Digestive System
Hello everyone,
Here a few yoga poses you can do to help calm the body and get the digestive system going. Bring these poses into your regular practice for a while, or do them by themselves. But also think about the portions you eat, overeating could well be causing the problem!
The poses I demonstrate in this sequence are:
- thunderbolt pose / vajrasana
- seated forward bend / paschimottanasana
- lying simple twist
- one leg twist
- savasana / corpse pose
Happy digesting!
Esther

Hi Esther,
Comment by Prakriti Feb 24, 10, 12:23 pmI had a question on acid reflux. Are there any yoga poses to relieve this problem.
I have an open valve and understand that the acid after a meal can come to my throat and cause a lot of discomfort. I would appreciate any help with aasans to relieve this.
Thanks,
Prakriti

Comment by Esther Mar 05, 10, 12:27 pmIt sounds to me you could do with a more restorative form of yoga, see if they have yin yoga around where you are. That will balance your dosha, your type. You will probably be more attracted to an active fast paced style, which you can do too, but balance it with the yin / restorative style. This is the best advice I can give you. Long relaxations…
Be well,
Esther
These videos are awesome.I think people don’t need to have a trainer, they can learn a lot of tips from this video.I practice yoga daily and this is a good help for me as well.

Comment by Mary Donnery Mar 11, 10, 9:32 pmEshter,
I apologize that my question is not related to the above video. However, here goes anyway…What are your thoughts on alternating my Yoga practice with a low impact cardio workout? I currently own an indoor recumbent bike, so there is little to no strain on my back. I have abandoned the bike since I started practicing the Yoga in your videos. It’s great! I’m just wondering if you think there is any harm in alternating days between Yoga and the recumbent bike?

That is fine, cross training is good! yoga will keep you flexible as well as strong and work on your body awareness and relaxation. Keep up everything else you like as well! Alternating is good.
