Yoga poses – how to get into the splits

Hi everyone,

Here some preparatory poses to find your way into practicing the splits, in sanskrit called hanumanasana pose.

It is good to build up some heat in your body by doing at least 3-5 rounds of your favorite sun salutation first.  Than continue with the sequence in this video. Also the sequence in this video you can repeat twice to really open your hips enough for the splits.

The poses I use to prepare the body are:

Lunges

half  splits

intense side stretch / parvottanasana

triangle pose / utthita trikonanasana

splits / hanumanasana pose
