Yoga in Cape town
Hi Everyone,
Just to keep you updated on me and my travels. Cape town is great!!! I love it. I love the people, the atmosphere, what it does with me. I feel at home on the markets, especially when I’m the only blond person around funny enough, I love the humor, and friendly nature of the people here… True, at night things change, and I know I shouldn’t walk the streets I love to walk during the daylight, but I can accept that.
What brought me to Africa is that I was born in Nigeria. I wanted to go back. Nigeria however didn’t seem the place to go this time, so South Africa seemed to be a good alternative.
I’ve always had trouble settling in one place, feeling restless very quickly, ready to start or do something new, not really grounding myself in the moment too much. And that is the exact thing I have been looking for the last few years in my life. To be able to relax in the moment, in the present, with what is.
I have a feeling it all started in Africa, when I had to leave as a 3 year old. Leaving behind the smells, the soil, the people, the vibration, the energy of africa, my safety and security of what I knew. Not being able to understand that where we went was still part of the same world. It feels I left something behind here in Africa, a feeling of belonging, a feeling of security and safety, a sense of being one with everyting around me.
Here now, Im doing my best to connect with that what I feel I left behind here. I have no idea how to go about that yet, except to start with my yoga routine every morning and my 20 minutes of meditation and being present as much as possible in every moment.
My secret hope is to find a witch doctor who might be able to guide me in my quest. Than again am I projecting the idea / believe of needing someone else to help sort myself out, on this. Or can I trust that existence will guide me through this, with or without my witch doctor?
I have the time, I will keep you posted. Today I’m going to first swim with the penguins, maybe they have something to say about this as well!
Hope you are all well and enjoying your time leading up to Christmas,
Esther
